Programming, Implementation, Research and Development Department

The responsibilities of this department include developing of project concepts, need assessments for target groups, preparation of proposals in line with donor priorities including budgeting and relevant economic calculations in close cooperation with the Finance department. It also prepares all narrative reports to donors and partners. The department works closely with MIS (Management Information System) staff for consistent and reliable flow of information about all the programmes of BEFARe Programming department ensures timely and professional implementation of all activities for achieving the maximum impact of the intervention at a target area.

The P & I department guides the implementing departments in achieving the targets and ensures compliance of organizational policy and commitments. It also explores the areas that are in need of further support and plans for the future. PID also ensures conformity to the agreements reached with the donor agencies and coordinates between the departments, the donors and partners with respect to all educational and management interventions and activities.

The department also works for Research and Development with the objective of improving the standards in the educational programmes. It assists in sharing knowledge and information amongst the implementing departments within BEFARe and exchanging the same with partners and donors. Department  primarily concentrates on the production, reviewing and publication (P&P) of curricula to incorporate and integrate with new and innovative concepts in education including both FE (Formal Education) and NFE (Non Formal Education) sectors. The materials developed by R&D are also extensively used by other educational organizations like Save the Children (US) in the province of Baluchistan, IRC and CARE International etc. along with many agencies inside Afghanistan.

The general functions of R&D at BEFARe are:

  • Carrying out Research
  • Development of Formal and Non Formal written educational materials
  • Reviewing the materials
  • Evaluation of educational programs
  • Organizing workshops on Pedagogical aspects for Teacher training, Teacher supervision, Managers, Planners etc
  • Developing training manuals for:
    • Peace education
    • Gender Equity
    • Mother and Child Health Care program
    • Master Trainers
    • Union councils Monitoring Committees
